Red Hot Fibre '98
- an exhibition of natural fibre papermaking and artwork, Brisbane Botanic
Gardens, April 1998, supported by Arts Queensland, Australian Paper
and the American Book Store. 63 artists exhibited and over 2000 people
attended the exhibition held during the 1998 Easter weekend. This exhibition
included public workshops, seminars and a slide evening conducted by
artists during the exhibition.
"Red Hot Fibre
'98 was held in the Mt Coot-tha Auditorium for 2 days over Easter and
again was very successful:
- over 60 artists
exhibited from Queensland, Australia, New Zealand, the United States,
United Kingdom and Papua new Guinea
- over 2000 paying
visitors
- a range of workshops
and seminars
- a merchandise
area for exhibitors to sell multiples and smaller artworks
- more extensive
media coverage, including a fabulous invitation;
- a small funding
surplus after the show; and
- the show was
invited to be hung at the Cooloola Shire Gallery (Gympie) for the
following month.
