crafting of floor mats is a relatively new innovation based on the modification
of two traditional woven forms
- the first, a triangular shape worn ceremonially
by women; the second, a smaller conical shape
used as a shade cover for
resting babies. The mat is twined form pandanus
fibres which have been collected from the artist's clan estate."
